Events must be planned and organised to ensure the safety of students, staff and other users of School premises as well as persons attending the event. Event organisers should always check with Conferences and Events to ensure that the venue is suitable and has sufficient capacity to accommodate the numbers expected to attend. Advice on security arrangements should be sought from the School Security team, particularly where external speakers or participants are invited or expected attend. Event organisers should ensure that a risk assessment is completed, the model risk assessment (Word) can be used for this purpose. Where an event is organised jointly external organisation, the external organisation must be provided with essential health and safety information (PDF) regarding the School's fire safety and first-aid procedures.
