Terms of reference

To provide a forum for discussion of issues of concern and interest to users of the School's student residences.

Mode of Operation

To transmit to the Residences Division and the Student and Academic Affairs Committee, as it relates to their Terms of Reference, the views of Hall Wardens and student representatives on:

  1. proposals for the levels of rent to be charged to Hall residents.
  2. levels of service provision for Hall residents, including cleaning, security, catering, and other infrastructural needs.
  3. amendments to regulations affecting Hall residents, including student disciplinary matters and complaints and residents' welfare.
  4. the accommodation needs of students during vacations.
  5. issues relating to the operation of Hall Societies, arising from the Group's oversight of them.
  6. any other matter on which the Student and Academic Affairs Committee may seek the Group's views.

Membership

  • Chair, to be elected by the Group from among the Wardens
  • The Warden/Senior Subwarden of each School Student Residence
  • The Deans
  • 1 student nominated by the Students Union
  • 1 student elected from among the residents of each of School Student Residence, at present: Bankside House , Butlers Wharf , Carr-Saunders Hall, High Holborn, Grosvenor House, King's Cross, Lilian Knowles, Northumberland House, Passfield Hall, Rosebery Hall, Sidney Webb House and Westminster Bridge. 
  • The Head of Residential Life.

  • Service Managers of their Deputies (at the invitation of the Chair)
