Reduce, Re-use, Recycle
The department has set an annual target to reduce the number of prints made on departmental printers by at least 5%. Finance are strongly encouraging staff members to reduce the number of copies made by taking advantage of the scan facility from the photocopier. If anyone is not already set up or would like additional training on how to scan items on the photocopier please contact Sara Whyte, who will arrange it.
Reuse and Recycle envelopes
A box has been set up in the stationery cupboard so that the department can reuse old envelopes. Staff should ensure all envelopes are opened with a letter opener and stored according to size the allocated box in the stationary cupboard (where new envelopes are currently stored). When requiring an envelope use a label to print or write the address. Place the label careful so that it:
-
Covers the first address – cross out any writing that remains on display.
-
Covers the previous franking mark – or cross this out.
Note: You may need to use an additional piece of tape to fully seal the envelope.
Recycling Tips
-
Don’t Print unless you really have to! Instead you can print emails and documents to PDF by changing the printer settings.
-
If you have to print, only print the relevant sections of a document, or use a smaller font size and increase the page margins to reduce the paper used.
-
Re-use stationary including Envelopes, Lever Arch Files, Plastic Wallets & Dividers.
-
Put all junk mail into the junk mail box in the kitchen. The suppliers will be contacted and requested to remove you from the circulation list.
