Food and drink have a significant impact on the environment. LSE Catering are committed to providing and procuring sustainable and healthy food for LSE's staff and students, and LSE provide you with the facilities you need to build good food and drink habits for the future!
LSE Catering Sustainability
LSE Catering have demonstrated their commitment to providing sustainable and healthy food in the Environmental, Sustainable and Healthy Food Policy and the Commitments and Targets Statement.
In June 2016 LSE Catering received a ‘Two-Star – Excellent Rating’ from the Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) for the Catered Halls and the Central Restaurants. LSE is the first London University to be accredited stars. The central restaurants score was in the top 80% for all SRA accredited universities and the halls in the top 70%.
Water Fountains
Bottled water has a high environmental impact. Millions of barrels of oil are used to manufacture plastic bottles and transporting bottled water around the world produces more carbon emissions.
Refill your reusable water bottle at one of LSE's 64 water fountains to save yourself money and reduce your environmental footprint.
There is an additional 10p levy on all bottles of water sold on the LSE campus which goes to the School's Sustainable Projects Fund.
Check out the Food and Drink Facilities Guide webpage for a map of where the water fountains are.
