What is the CBR project?

LSE’s Centre Building Redevelopment will create a state of the art flexible and highly sustainable academic and teaching building, designed by renowned architects Roger Stirk Harbour + Partners, find out more about the project by watch this short film.

Demolition commenced at the end of the Summer term 2015 the video demonstrates how this will be done.  The building will be completed late 2018.

Where is the site?

The Centre Buildings Redevelopment is on Houghton Street and Clare Market. Buildings to be demolished are: East Building, The Anchorage, Clare Market and St Clement’s: core and eastern wing.

When is it happening?

Planning permission was granted by Westminster City Council in April 2015. Buildings to be demolished will be fully vacant by the end of the Summer Term 2015, demolition will start at the beginning of the summer holidays and the new building will be finished late 2018.

Monthly drop in sessions with the demolition contractor, Cantillon and LSE Capital Development staff will be held on the last Wednesday of each month between 1pm and 3pm at the demolition site office in Kings Chambers B.03.  The LSE community and neighbours are encouraged to attend, have a cup of tea and discuss any queries you may have about the project.  Any questions or concerns can also be emailed to Estates.Centrebuildings@lse.ac.uk
