Grange Court closure update June 2016

We are pleased to report that the through-route from Carey Street to St Clement’s Lane has now re-opened.

Grange Court closed from 28th May

We have now  been advised that permission has been granted by Westminster City Council to close Grange Court  in order to facilitate emergency utility power services works by UKPN. The section of Grange Court between St Clements Lane and Clements Inn Passage will be closed from Saturday 28 May for approximately 5 weeks. This closure will mean that all access to and from the Towers will be via the Aldwych. Please see pedestrian map showing alternative route (pdf).

The contractor has agreed to avoid undertaking noisy works while LSE examinations are taking place in the Towers. Outside the exam period the contractor will continue to adhere to restricted drilling times between the hours of 08.00-10.00, 12.00-14.00 and 16.00-18.00.

If you experience or witness any issues in relation to the above please contact Jas Sidhu on or 020 7955 7778 and she will forward your concern to the relevant person within the Capital Development Team.

No access to The Towers – Saturday 30 April and Sunday 1 May.

Due to emergency works required on the water main that provides both drinking water and firefighting supply to the Towers, the buildings will be closed on Saturday 30 April and Sunday 1 May.

Works have been programmed to take place over the Bank Holiday weekend in order to try and minimise disruption to occupants though if you do require alternative accommodation over this weekend then please inform us of any special requirements and we will review on a case by case basis.

As a consequence of these works this location (pdf) Grange Court will remain closed until Tuesday 3rd May.

There will also be some localised excavation at the junctions of Clare Market and Portugal Street and St Clements Lane and Portugal Street, these will not restrict pedestrian movements.

In early May 2016 works will commence on the diversion of a sewer at the junction of Clare Market and Houghton Street which will require extensive excavation. These works will also require some partial closure of the pedestrian route at the junction of St Clements Lane and Grange Court, dates will be confirmed in due course.

The images below show the progress that has been made in the past four months.
