Anti-Semitism in the Modern Age

On Wednesday 7 September 2016, between 6.30 to 8pm, at CLM 3.02, 3rd Floor, Clement House, LSE, join the Institute of Public Affairs for a public lecture to be delivered by Professor Yehuda Bauer and chaired by Professor Janet Hartley on anti-semitism. This event is free and open to all with no ticket or pre-registration required.

Women in Science: past, present, and future challenges

On Tuesday 27 September 2016, between 6.30 to 8pm, at the Sheikh Zayed Theatre, New Academic Building, join the Forum for European Philosophy for a public discussion by speakers Dr Patricia Fara, Professor Melissa Hines and Dr Cailin O’Connor and chair Dr Jonathan Birch on women in science and their challenges. This event is free and open to all with no ticket or pre-registration required. 

EDI and Organisational Learning Autumn Training Courses

In partnership with Organisational Learning, the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Taskforce has arranged for three courses to be held at LSE this autumn. These courses are: 

On Tuesday 6 September 2016, between 9.30am to 5pm, the Stonewall  one-day LGBT Role Models Programme will give individuals the opportunity to explore what it means to be a role model and a space to identify how an inclusive environment can be created for everyone. On Wednesday 14 September 2016, between 9.30am to 5pm, the Stonewall  one-day Allies Programme will give non-LGBT individuals the opportunity to explore what it means to be an ally and the space to identify how an inclusive environment can be created for everyone. Professor Julia Black, the school’s Interim Director, has committed to attend the training session. Click here to register for the programme.

From September 2016 to January 2017, at the LSE, the Cultural Ability Development Engagement & Talent (CADET) programme for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic employees will be run by Imperial College London. Everyday Sexism

On Tuesday 11 October 2016, between 6.30pm to 8pm, at the Sheikh Zayed Theatre, New Academic Building, join the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Annual Lecture, to hear Laura Bates speak and Professor Anne Phillips chair, on everyday sexism. This event is free and open to all with no ticket or pre-registration required. Entry is on a first come, first served basis. 

Race in the Academy symposium

On 13 October 2016, between 9.30am to 4pm, (venue tbc) in collaboration with Goldsmiths, University of London, Race in the Academy will be holding a one day symposium entitled 'Challenging the Silence in Higher Education: Race and Racism in the Academy'. The confirmed speakers for the symposium include Professor Kalwant Bhopal, Professer Steve Garner, Dr Kehinde Andrews, Claire Herbert and Dr Louise Owusu-Kwarteng. The symposium will be followed by the Race in the Academy photo exhibition launch with a keynote talk between 5.30pm to 7pm to be held at LSE Life.
