The Green Room to the Old Theatre can only be booked at the same time as your booking for the Old Theatre.

The conditions of use of the Old Theatre Green Room are as follows:

No food or drink (other than bottled water) should be taken into the green room.

The furniture in the room cannot be removed or additional furniture brought in, the room should be left in its standard set-up at the end of your booking.

Please do not fix posters or signs to the walls of the room and please note this room cannot be used for storage, items left in the room will be disposed of and LSE takes no responsibility for any items which are removed. If any extra cleaning is required, or items to be replaced after your booking then these costs will be passed to the user.

The Shaw Library

The Shaw Library’s (Founders Room) primary purpose is as a library, student/staff study area, the home to the music practice room and venue for the weekly lunchtime music concerts.

The School will only consider requests for the Shaw Library to be booked when no other appropriate venue is available. To enquire about availability please email lse.roombookings@lse.ac.uk.

If you are looking to hold a reception then the primary catering areas in the Old Building will be allocated to your event first. Any catering in the Shaw Library can only be provided by LSE Central Catering.

The conditions of use of the Shaw Library are as follows:

If you need the furniture to be moved around in the Shaw Library this needs to be done by the LSE porters. Please use the porters request form. Please ask for advise on set-up time so we can manage the amount of time the Library is unavailable as a study space.

Please note it is not possible to remove the large red armchairs from the Shaw Library, please consider this when thinking about the set up of any Shaw Library events.

If you have the Shaw Library booked for an event it does not include access to the Music Practice Room

The maximum capacity for a seated event (such as for a talk or a conference) in the Shaw Library is 120. Providing catering in the Shaw library will reduce the seated capacity of the venue. If you wish to have catering in the Shaw Library then the maximum capacity will be reduced to 90 people.

Any registration tables for an event have to be placed inside the Shaw Library keeping fire exits clear. Registration tables are not permitted to be set up in the corridor on the 6th floor as this houses academics' offices.

If you have any AV requests then please contact the Audio-visual services to make arrangements.

Please follow this link for more information about the history of the Shaw Library

Vera Anstey Room

The primary use of the Vera Anstey Room is for official School committee meetings, short courses and commercial bookings.  It may be considered for other purposes when no other rooms are available, but bookings made for events which do not follow  the primary use may not be confirmed until two weeks prior to the booking date.

The furniture in this room can only be re-arranged by the porters, include plenty of set-up time in your booking. The VAR can be set-up theatre style which increases the capacity of the room to 70.

Please note that catering is only allowed in the anteroom of the Vera Anstey Room.  The capacity for catering is between 20 - 25 people. The VAR is not a suitable room for receptions unless they are small enough to fit into the ante room. Also please note this venue is not accessible by wheelchair users.

Chairmans Dinning Room, Directors Dinning Room

These rooms are for use for high profile dinners, lunches and catered events, and are not available for meetings.  When booking either of these rooms please ensure you book at least 45 minutes of set up and take down time for central catering.

Please note that all bookings in the DDR and CDR are pre-emptable. This means that the School reserves the right to move your booking if the venue is required for a high profile event with the Director.

Atrium

The Atrium is part of the Student Services Centre (SSC) located on the ground floor of the Old Building.  It is primarily a work space for the Student Services staff providing assistance and support to LSE students and is therefore generally not available to book during working hours or at peak times of the year for SSC Staff.

Catering

The Atrium is a licensed venue and all catering in this venue must be ordered via LSE Central Catering.  Please view their Menus  and note that not all menu options are available in the Atrium, for the widest choice of options you should book the Senior Common Room or Staff Dining Room.
