If Student Societies are looking to use space in the School for physical type activities such as dancing, drama and performance rehearsals, sports or exercise these should be booked into the suitable spaces like the Old Gym, the Badminton Court or venues in the Saw Swee Hock Student Centre.

Rehearsal space in the Saw Swee Hock Student Centre:
The Venue
Societies have a reserved booking during term time for rehearsal space in the Venue. The available times for these rehearsals are Wednesdays 9am-5pm and Thursdays 9am-2pm.
Please note: These are for rehearsals which require the empty space only. The SU do not deliver any furniture for these rehearsals. The SU also don’t arrange AV requirements for them. The room must be kept clean and in the condition that the room was in when the room booking started. This reservation for society use of the event applies to the 2014/2015 academic year only. The SU will be reviewing this arrangement at the end of the academic year.

6th Floor Activities Studio
The 6th floor activities studio is reserved for event bookings on Wednesday evenings 5pm-9.30pm, Thursday evenings 6.30pm-9.30pm and Friday evenings 5pm-9.30pm. If there are no event bookings, the space will be made available for society rehearsals. The space can also be reserved for society rehearsals all day on Saturdays and Sundays. These rehearsals cannot be booked far in advance as this event space is primarily reserved for events during these times, therefore an enquiry about booking this space for rehearsals must be made on the same week of the planned rehearsal. Any rehearsals that are booked in in advance (under exceptional circumstances) are subject to cancellation from the SU Events Team.

Rehearsal space around the LSE Campus:
Once academic timetables have been finalised we will confirm additional spaces for society rehearsal activity across campus. Please remember that the primary purpose of these rooms is for teaching, and they are not ideal for the types of physical activity described above.

Please note that NO other teaching rooms are permitted to be used for physical activities (dancing, drama/performance rehearsals, sports or exercise). Societies found to have booked space (including these rooms at times outside of those listed above) will have their room booking privileges withdrawn.
Student societies are responsible for completing a risk assessment form (which can be obtained from the SU) and for making sure that venues are as safe as possible, which means moving furniture to the side of the room. Please note that furniture in rooms should never be moved into corridors, as this can block fire exits for the building.
Room layouts also need to be returned to their default setting by the end time of the room booking.
