The New Academic Induction Programme (NAIP) for academics joining the LSE runs in early September, before the start of Michaelmas Term. This year's events took place between Tuesday 6 September and Friday 9 September 2016.

The first day of the programme included a welcome from the Teaching and Learning Centre team and other key LSE colleagues, an introduction to different aspects of academic life at the School, and a drinks reception in the Senior Common Room with members of the Directorate.

After the first day, the programme is focused on teaching and learning issues, including lecturing, seminars, assessment and feedback, managing course teams and academic advising.

Attendance at the New Academic Induction Programme is compulsory for new assistant professors. It forms the core “workshop” requirement for the Associate Level of the LSE Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education, which is an Interim Review (IR) requirement for assistant professors appointed pre-IR. Further details about the PGCertHE and the School’s Academic Development Programme is provided with the programme joining instructions a few weeks prior to the induction.

In addition to the main Programme, we are planning to run a follow-up session on 28 September titled Introduction to LSE: International perspective. This session is principally aimed at new academics who have never taught in the UK before. If you have an interest in attending this session, do let us know as soon as possible!

If you attended and have any further questions, or want to give us any feedback, please contact us by email at tlc@lse.ac.uk.
