Academic and professional development
This highly regarded programme, co-ordinated by the School's Teaching and Learning Centre, is made of up three key strands:
Academic and professional development: a series of interdisciplinary workshops designed to help you make the most of your research in relation to "impact" both within and beyond academia
Authoring a PhD: workshops and materials based on Professor Patrick Dunleavy's book Authoring a PhD that support your thinking and writing across the three key stages of the doctorate
The Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCertHE): a teaching qualification for those new to university teaching and designed to be combined with study at the doctoral level

LSE's Language Centre offers programmes in modern foreign languages, English (including popular English for Academic Purposes and English for Teaching Purposes programmes), linguistics and literature.

Additionally, the Library has Academic Support Librarians specifically for doctoral students who are a first point of contact and can provide one-to-one research consultations.
LSE's Department of Methodology runs courses on research methods that meet the ESRC's generic requirements for the first year of a 1+3 PhD programme.
