Dr. Jeffrey M. Chwieroth

ChwierothDr. Jeffrey M. Chwieroth is currently Reader in International Political Economy in the Department of International Relations at the London School of Economics. Previously, he was a Visiting Scholar in the Research Department of the International Monetary Fund, Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Syracuse University, and a Jean Monnet Postdoctoral Fellow in the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies at the European University Institute.

He has done consultancy for Oxford Analytica and for the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies and also teaches executive education courses for the European Commission's External Relations Directorate General, the Government of Spain's National Institute of Public Administration, the Royal College of Defence Studies, and the Executive Summer School at the London School of Economics.

His research interests are in the international political economy of money and finance, specifically international organisations - especially the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank - financial globalisation, sovereign wealth funds, hedge funds, economic norms and ideas, and emerging markets.

Professor Stuart Corbridge

CorbridgeProfessor Stuart Corbridge is Professor of International Development at LSE, where he is also Pro-Director for Research and External Relations.   He taught for a long while at Cambridge University in the UK, and also at Syracuse, Miami and Texas-Austin Universities in the USA. He has worked as a consultant for the World Bank and for the UK's Department for International Development. He is a Managing Editor of the Journal of Development Studies and has been a visiting Professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University in India. His next book, expected in 2012 (with John Harriss and Craig Jeffrey) has the working title, India Today: Economy, Polity and Society in an Emerging Power.

Professor Mick Cox

Professor Michael Cox was appointed to a Chair in International Relations at the London School of Economics in 2003 and previously held appointments at The Queen's University of Belfast (1972-1995), California State University at San Diego (1986), The College of William and Mary in Virginia (1987-1989), the Department of International Politics, Aberystwyth (1995-2001), The Catholic University of Milan (2003-2008), the University of Melbourne (2004-2005), and the Centre for Defence and Strategic Studies in Canberra, Australia (2004-2008).

More recently he was appointed Director of the Cold War Studies Centre at LSE, and in 2007 Co-Director of LSE IDEAS, a Centre for the Study of Diplomacy and Strategy. He is also an associate research fellow at Chatham House, London, and between 2001 and 2002 was Director of the David Davies Memorial Institute for the Study of International Politics. In 2002 and 2007 he was appointed a Research Fellow at the prestigious Nobel Institute in Oslo, and in 2003 Chair of the United States Discussion Group at the Royal Institute of International Affairs. In 2007 Professor Michael Cox became an Associate Fellow on the Transatlantic Programme at The Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) Whitehall. He has also taught and is an alumnus of the Salzburg Seminar, Austria.

Dr. Fei Qin

FeiDr Fei Qin holds a PhD in Management from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She is on the faculty of the Department of Management at LSE and was a Phelan Fellow at the International Labour Organisation in Geneva. She is also a core member of the research team of the LSE-RSM Innovation Co-Creation Lab.

Dr Qin's research focuses on international entrepreneurship, global production networks, and business model innovation. She has led research projects in China, India, Italy, the UK and the US on the subjects of transnational entrepreneurship and global value chains. Her joint paper "Does Monitoring Improve Labor Standards? Lessons from Nike" won the Emerald Citation of Excellence Award and was selected as one of top 50 articles in the field of management worldwide in 2007. In recent years she has been invited to give research seminars at world-leading business schools including the Wharton School, the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, MIT Sloan School, and Imperial College Business School.

Professor Danny Quah

QuahDanny Quah is Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science; he is also Co-Director of LSE Global Governance and Senior Fellow at LSE IDEAS.  He currently serves on Malaysia's National Economic Advisory Council.  In 2006-2009 he was Head of Department of Economics at LSE. Prof. Quah holds degrees from Princeton and Harvard, and was Assistant Professor of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology before joining the LSE.  In 2010 he was Tan Chin Tuan Visiting Professor in the Economics Department at the National University of Singapore, and Visiting Professor at the School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University. Quah has consulted for among others the World Bank, the Bank of England, and the Monetary Authority of Singapore. He is a Member of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on Economic Imbalances. Danny's research is now on the global economy, economic growth and development, income inequality, international economic relations, economic geography, and new technologies.

Dr. Charles Yang

Charles YangDr. Charles Yang is currently the CEO and Founder of Shanghai Nature Information Science and Technology Ltd (Nature Dao). The mission of Nature Dao is to help stock-traders reduce their risk and increase their returns. Dr. Yang served as Vice President of the TCL Group and then as CEO of  TCL Mobile Communication Co. in 2009. Before joining TCL, he established Dopod Communication Corporation in 2001,served as the CEO and President between 2001 and 2006, and the Honorary Chairman between 2006 and 2008. Before establishing Dopod, Dr. Yang worked in the USA, for over 16 years, in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Expert Systems, and Internet ecommerce with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Canon Inc, Gap Inc, and Pixo Corp. As the VP of Internet Services at Pixo, his team successfully developed the first generation of mobile Internet service platforms and the first generation operating system (OS) of the smart phone, which became the first OS of the Apple iPod. Yang received an B.A. and M.A. in engineering from Xi'an Jiaotong University in 1982 and 1985, respectively. He obtained an M.S. in 1987 and a Ph.D. in 1990 from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Professor Zhu Feng

Zhu FengProfessor Zhu Feng began his undergraduate studies at the Department of International Politics at Peking University in 1981 and received his PhD. from Peking University in 1991. He is currently a professor at the university's School of International Studies and Deputy Director of the Center for International & Strategic Studies (CISS).

He writes extensively on regional security in East Asia, the nuclear issue in North Korea, American national security strategy, China-US relations and missile defense. He is a leading Chinese security expert and senior research fellow of the Center for Peace and Development of China. Prof. Zhu's books include Ballistic Missile Defense and International Security (Shanghai: Shanghai People's Press, 2001), International Relations Theory and East Asian Security (Beijing: People's University Press, 2007), and China's Ascent: Power, Security, and Furure of International politics (co-edited with Prof. Robert S. Ross, Cornell University Press, 2008).
