Connecting to LSE Workspace

Workspace.lse.ac.uk is a portal service allowing access to various LSE based applications and services from both on and offsite. This service is available to all staff and students and can be accessed from a wide range of devices. Instructions for each can be found on this page.

Accessing Workspace

You can access Workspace through the web, on a PC, or Mac, or on iOS and Android phones via the app. Depending on how frequently you use the service, you can access Workspace using one of the following means:

Web access – If you don't use Workspace often, you can log in through a web browser. This will require you to log in each time you access Workspace.
PC/Mac Download – IMT recommend that frequent Workspace users download the desktop client, which provides a more responsive interface than the web client.
iPad /Android App – To access Workspace from a mobile device you will need to install the vWorkspace app. Access via a browser is not supported on mobile devices.

Workspace can be accessed via an internet browser. If accessing Workspace via the web, you will be asked to enter your LSE username and password each time you log in.

It is recommended that where possible that you install the downloadable Workspace client using the instructions on this page, as this will provide a faster and more responsive interface.

The web access method will work on any HTML5 compatible browser running on Windows, Mac or Linux. The current versions of Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome and Firefox are all supported.

Go to https://workspace.lse.ac.uk.
Log in using your LSE username and password.
Click the icon of the application you want to open.
A new browser tab will open the selected application.

Installing the Windows client will enable you to access Workspace from a PC.

Go to https://vworkspace.lse.ac.uk.
Select the Downloads tab and click Windows - LSE Workspace Client 8.5 to download the client.
Open the downloaded file to launch the installer. Click Next until the installation has finished. You will need to restart your PC to complete the installation.
To launch Workspace, double click on the AppPortal shortcut on your desktop.
Enter your LSE username and password.
You will see the applications available to you. Click on an application’s icon to start.

Installing the Mac client will enable you to access Workspace from a Mac desktop or laptop.

Go to https://vworkspace.lse.ac.uk.
Select the Downloads tab and click MAC – LSE Workspace Client 8.6 to download the client.
Open the downloaded file and drag the vWorkspace application into the Applications folder. If you are prompted to replace an older version of vWorkspace at this point it is safe to do so.
Start the app via the Applications menu.
When asked to provide a vWorkspace website enter Workspace.lse.ac.uk. This will download the configuration to connect to LSE Workspace.
Enter your LSE username and password.
You will see the applications available to you. Click on an application’s icon to start.

The vWorkspace app is available for iPad, iPhone and Android.

Download and install the vWorkspace app:
- App Store for iOS
- Play Store for Android
Open the app by clicking on the vWorkspace icon.
Enter Workspace.lse.ac.uk when prompted for a website.
Enter your LSE username and password.
You will see the applications available to you. Click on an application’s icon to start.
