Installing Microsoft Lync for LSE Macs

Microsoft Lync is the application currently equivalent to ‘Skype for Business’ that is available to Windows computers.

LSE Staff who wish to access the ‘Skype for Business’ features can install Microsoft Lync from LSE Self Service, which should be available on all LSE-owned Macs inside the Applications directory.

To Install

1. From the Finder Menu Bar, click Go, Applications.

2. Click the LSE Self (if this application is not available you can download and run an installer from this link. Note that this software is available on LSE Macs only and that your account must have local administrator rights).

The Microsoft Lync icon will be available to eligible users on the LSE Self Service home screen as per the screenshot below. If you cannot see this icon, please contact the IT Service Desk.

3. Click on the Install button to view the description and proceed with the installation. 

Once installed, a new icon will be added to your Dock.

4. Click the Microsoft Lync icon to launch the application.

5. Accept the ULA to proceed to the Lync login screen.

6. To log in, complete the fields as per below:

  • Email Address: Your LSE email address
  • Sign in as: Automatic
  • User ID: Your LSE email address
  • Password: Your LSE password
