Teaching and learning spaces

Teaching and Learning Spaces endeavours to enhance the teaching and learning experience at LSE through the provision of high quality ICT resources. These include student PCs and printers, lecture theatres, teaching rooms and other Audio Visual resources, including a highly evolved lecture recording system.

Digital display signage

Departments can request to display information| on the plasma/LCD screens around campus. We can schedule PowerPoint slides, images, web material and short videos to display at selected times, on specific screens or at all locations on campus.


Lecture capture

Automatic, scheduled recording of lectures| is available, allowing you to record your lecture and make it available to students online|. In lecture theatres, we can record a video of the speaker along with any audio and visual materials. In certain teaching rooms, we can record audio of the speaker and visual materials such as slides.


Video streaming

We can stream live video and audio from large lecture theatres to other rooms on campus, providing additional venues for oversubscribed lectures. Please note that we are unable to stream video off campus.


Presentation loan equipment

We can loan non-standard, portable equipment including flipcharts, data projectors, microphones, laser pointers, wireless mice, digital/video cameras and tripods. Please note that we only supply equipment for use on campus. We may require a deposit for some smaller items and a photocopy of your LSE ID card on collection.


Video conferencing

We provide two video conferencing rooms on campus, which enable audio and video communication between people in different locations. These facilities must be booked in advance.


Computer rooms - halls of residence

IT services provides student desktop and printing facilities in the halls of residence|. Most desktops run Windows 7 with standard applications such as Office 2010.


Student printing and scanning

Printers are provided in student computer areas including halls of residence. Please note, there is a fixed charge for this service. We also provide three free to use scanners in CMK.C120, the lower ground floor of the Library and i STC.S502. For more information, see our guides to printing and scanning.


i-Roam: the LSE laptop loan service

During term-time, students and staff can borrow laptops from the LSE Library using the self-service machines in the Library Course Collection area on the ground floor. The i-roam laptops| are located in the blue charging cabinets and provide access to the internet, email (via web-mail), personal file space (H: space) and Microsoft Office applications.
