IT Training

The IT Training| team offer free training sessions throughout the year to help both staff, and students use a variety of software packages more effectively. We have regularly-scheduled workshops that are open to anyone, as well as group sessions or individual consultations which we can customise to meet your needs.

IT coaching and 1-2-1 support

Staff and PhD students can work individually| with a Training Specialist to discuss specific issues, identify training requirements and implement an appropriate training requirement for you or your team.

 

Taught courses and surgeries

Staff and PhD students can attend taught courses| and surgeries on key tools, technologies and techniques. Attend sessions on getting to grips with Office 2010 and clearing your inbox or drop into a Software Surgery| for individualised support.

 

Dissertation formatting

The IT Training team provides assistance in efficiently and correctly formatting a thesis, dissertation or other long academic document. Assistance is provided through a standard course (Format an Academic Paper|), software surgeries and a drop-in surgery| for PhD students.

 

Guided self-study

During Michaelmas and Lent Terms, self-paced, student-supervised workshops| are available on a range of Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Work at your own pace on the topics most important to you, getting assistance when required. 

 

Online video tutorials

You can access a series of short online video training tutorials|, covering over 900 different topics. Topics include Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, C++, Java, Macromedia Flash, PHP, XML, Linux, UNIX, Microsoft applications and much more.
