What is the email and data storage programme?

The Email and Data Storage programme consists of several projects that are being managed by IMT to take advantage of the opportunities afforded by cloud services, many of which are free to Education facilities. This will provide us with better collaborative working, information sharing and data storage solutions.

What projects are being implemented?

This programme includes the current projects. Click on the links to learn more about each of the projects, including how we can help you, and how you can help us:

Upgrade of email servers for staff email

The existing in-house email service is being upgraded with new software, new servers and with increased mailbox size for staff.

Cloud email – Office 365

We will be migrating email to Outlook Online - part of Office 365, which is Microsoft’s cloud email offering, free to Education. Undergraduate students were migrated last year and staff and other students will be migrated at the end of 2014.

Decommissioning public folders

When we migrate to Office 365, we will stop using public folders and replace them with more user-friendly solutions.

We currently have no IMT-supported collaborative working tool at LSE. We will be rolling out SharePoint team sites across the School to departments, teams and projects who would like to make use of it.

Frequently asked questions

As well as keeping the project pages up to date, we will also maintain the FAQs. If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions about this programme, let us know: FAQs that cut across the programme will be published here.
