LSE’s inaugural Excellence in Education Awards were made in June 2016, to a total of 85 staff from across the full range of academic departments.
Designed to support the School’s aspiration of creating ‘a culture where excellence in teaching is valued and rewarded on a level with excellence in research’ (LSE Strategy 2020), the Excellence in Education Awards are made, on the recommendations of Heads of Department, to staff who have demonstrated outstanding teaching contribution and educational leadership in their departments. The awards, along with the Teaching Promotion awards, were celebrated at a reception in October 2016.
‘It gives me great pleasure to announce this first cohort of Excellence in Education Award winners. My congratulations and thanks to you all, for your contributions to students’ educational experiences at LSE and to the academic life of the School.’ Pro Director for Education Paul Kelly
