The Vera Anstey Room (VAR)

The primary use of the Vera Anstey Room is for official School committee meetings, short courses and commercial bookings.  It may be considered for other purposes when no other rooms are available, but bookings made for events which do not comply with the primary use may not be confirmed until two weeks prior to the booking date.

Please note that catering is only allowed in the anteroom of the Vera Anstey Room. Delegates aren't allowed to take tea, coffee etc, into the VAR itself. This limits your capacity to 25 for teas and coffees and about 20 for a sandwich lunch. The VAR is not a suitable room for receptions unless they are small enough to fit into the ante room (capacity again about 25 for a reception). The furniture in this room is easily damaged by being moved, if you need the room re-arranged please ask the porters to do this for you and include plenty of set-up time in your booking. If the VAR is set-up theatre style (i.e. just chairs with the tables moved to the outside of the room) for your event then this raises the capacity of the room to around 70.
