Room Availability

While planning your meeting, before requesting your room via LSE for you, you may wish to consider the following general points on room availability:

  • Timetabled teaching runs Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 18:00, during which time space is extremely limited. Between these hours the most practical time to have a meeting in teaching rooms is from 13:00 to 14:00.
  • During term-time it is next to impossible to secure a teaching room of any size, lecture theatre or seminar room, for the whole day. Sometimes we can find you one room for the morning and another for the afternoon (i.e. after lunch you go back to a different room), so give us as much flexibility as you can.
  • Demand for committee room space is high, peaking around lunch time. In the morning and late afternoon there is more flexibility
  • Always allow yourself set-up time and takedown time for your booking, if it is necessary.
  • On Wednesday afternoons there is less teaching than usual hence this is often a good time for your meeting.
  • Thursdays are the busiest day of the week and hence hardest to get hold of a good room.
  • Committee room space is extremely scarce. Sometimes if we don't have a committee room free for your meeting then we may have to accommodate your meeting in a classroom.
  • A list of rooms which the Conference and Events office does not hold the diary for can be found on LSE Estates.
