The Alumni Relations team works to keep LSE’s 167,000 strong alumni community engaged with each other and with the School at every stage from new graduates to retirees, providing a programme of services, events, reunions, communications and volunteering opportunities. Alumni are the School’s global ambassadors, advocates and supporters who serve LSE by volunteering their time, expertise, contacts and philanthropy to keep the School strong now, and build capacity for the future.
Connecting with your alumni
If you need data or statistics on alumni please contact the Alumni Relations team who will work to ensure you get the right data. We have strict data protection policies so we may not be able to fulfil all requests. See policy section for rules around these requests.
Communications
We communicate with the alumni community in many ways, including:
These are coordinated by the Advancement Communications team. The full list of Advancement channels and publications highlights opportunities for you to connect with our alumni audiences.
We also facilitate communication between alumni, academic departments and student societies.
LSE Alumni online community
LSE’s online alumni community includes alumni and School news, stories and developments and enables alumni to:
-
update their contact and professional details
-
search for and contact former classmates
-
share their news and updates by posting a class note
-
become a mentor or use the Alumni Professional Mentoring Network as a mentee
We update the website with news and events from the School and alumni groups.
Events
We run our own programme of events for the benefit of our global alumni base. These include reunions, networking and career events, a summer reception at the House of Lords and events for our special interest groups, such as lawyers and banking & finance. We also host pre-departure events for overseas offer holders before they join the School, while the Alumni Association Leadership Forum convenes biennially, bringing together group leaders and the Executive Committee to campus. The annual Alumni Reunion Weekend takes place in July, celebrating the graduating classes of 12 year groups.
Alumni groups
We support over 80 international and special interestgroups and contact networks with membership recruitment and retention, volunteer management, succession planning and event organisation and promotion. We also connect groups with travelling academics who wish to include alumni activity into their itineraries.
Partnering with the Student Recruitment Office, we encourage and financially assist international groups and contact networks to organise pre-departure events for overseas offer holders.
Mentoring
The Alumni Professional Mentoring Network is a career networking resource by alumni for alumni and students. We recruit alumni across a broad range of business sectors and career levels to share their expertise and experience with alumni and students through every stage of the career cycle from graduate entry through to retirement and beyond.
Volunteering opportunities
Alumni Association: elected volunteers act in an advisory and consultative capacity.
International/special interest groups and contact networks: alumni serve as committee members within LSE’s community of over 80 recognised groups and networks worldwide,
Alumni Ambassadors: alumni assist LSE’s student recruitment work, responding to queries from prospective students, applicants and offer holders.
