There is a range of volunteering ventures organised by LSE students on campus which benefit charitable organisations and projects. Here’s a run-down of some of the most successful student led volunteering groups at LSE, many of whom partner with charities to achieve their aims.
FoodCycle LSE
FoodCycle LSE is one of 14 FoodCycle ‘Hubs’ currently operating around the UK. FoodCycle is an award-winning national charity that builds communities by combining volunteers, surplus food and empty kitchen space to create a tasty and nutritious 3 course meal for people at risk of food poverty and social isolation. Read International at LSE is one of a number of university groups, which help to drive this initiative. Student volunteers at LSE collect, sort and pack local book donations to get them ready for shipping and fundraise in order to help cover shipping costs.
