Reachout Research connects postgraduate students who are looking for dissertation topics with charities who are looking for research to be carried out.
If your charity is looking for a student to complete research in partnership with your organisation as part of their dissertation then we can help connect you. Your research opportunity will be posted on LSE CareerHub for LSE students to consider with their academic supervisor. They will then be in touch with you to talk in further detail about the opportunity.
Students from different courses may take a different approach to a research topic and you are welcome to host more than one student at your organisation.
In the past LSE students have carried out research looking at motivations of student volunteers, the development of digital products and how to help young people with cystic fibrosis.
How can you get involved?
To add your research opportunities to our database please complete our online form setting out your research requirements. You will be contacted by a member of staff at LSE if there are students interested in your research.
Please do not set a specific question but give information on your research topics. This means that students can choose the best academic approach.
Most dissertation topics are decided on by March so we would recommend having your opportunity added to LSE CareerHub by January at the latest. The completion date for a dissertation is usually 31 August.
Please note that whilst the student will be completing the research you will have to invest time in supporting them and ensuring they have the correct data and information. We would recommend having a named person who is responsible for managing the student and their research.
If you have any questions about the programme please contact David Coles, LSE Volunteer Coordinator.
