Team Leader, Bloomberg LP
Before my Master's at LSE, I worked as a consultant for US outsourcing giant Convergys. After graduation, I took up a role as a team leader at Bloomberg LP's Analytics Desk in London.
Bloomberg has an extremely fast-paced environment and our clients are the most important players in the international financial and political scene. I work as a team leader in our Analytics department, where my job is to help clients make the most out of their Bloomberg terminals and support users with any questions they might have about the Bloomberg system. My job is challenging, but really rewarding. The problem solving skills I developed at LSE are very useful in the Bloomberg world.
Joining Bloomberg gave me real intellectual challenges and a great opportunity for professional growth. Being passionate about business and having a keen interest in technology, I was particularly interested in Bloomberg’s Analytics and Financial Sales Programme, as I believed this was the field where I could make best use of my knowledge in Economics and IT, draw upon my project management experience, while capitalising on my leadership and analytical skills. I was attracted by the company’s comprehensive training and development programme, by the long-term career opportunities at Bloomberg and by the possibility of working with Bloomberg’s renowned clients.
I would advise LSE students to network as much as possible during their time at the LSE (both with university staff and your fellow students). Make the most of the Career Services as they are great! Their help with the preparation for my job interviews was invaluable. I found that the careers fairs I attended were great from a networking point of view. I got to talk to some Bloomberg people at the Business and Financial Services fair in November 2009. They spoke very highly about their company and clearly enjoyed their jobs a lot, so I decided to apply for a position with Bloomberg as well!
