Work experience and internships

In Germany, internships are known as ‘Praktikum’. Although many German students typically gain some form of work experience as part of their course, many praktikum are also open to other EU students.

It’s important to be aware that start dates and time periods for praktikum are often very different than a typical UK internship. Many opportunities can last for up to six months and they often start at different times of the year too.

Some of these opportunities may be advertised on LSE CareerHub but the following are all specialist German internship sites.

  • Praktika
Internship (website with a search by German region. Also lists internships for German speakers in other parts of the world, including the US and India.
  • Berufesstart
    Good selection of Praktikum.
  • StudentJob
Both Praktikum and part-time temporary opportunities.
  • Ask Students
