International Organisations' Day Saturday 8 November 8.30am - 6.00pm

Preparing for IOD

What to expect from IOD

In 2010, agencies from the UN were the joint largest recruiter of LSE graduates. However, it is difficult to be recruited into the professional-level entry programmes of the international organisations directly from university. The majority of these employers expect candidates to have a minimum of a PhD or a Master's degree with several years of relevant experience.

Therefore, rather than see this as a recruitment event, you should treat IOD as an opportunity to find out more about these organisations' hiring expectations and processes and how to develop your skills and experience appropriately, or to decide if this type of role is what you want to pursue.

Top tips

Research organisations in advance

Some presentations can reach capacity on the day so it’s a good idea to know in advance which presentation you want to see and to arrive early. Most of the presentations are recorded and will be made available to delegates after the event.

Manage your expectations

Attending IOD may not result in job offers but should help you to learn more about the types of organisations attending.

Special requirements

We can make arrangements for any access requirements you have, including hearing loops and wheelchair access. Just let us know when you make your booking. Email careers@lse.ac.uk or call 020 7955 7135.
