About me

Ben Cormier is an LSE Fellow in International Political Economy at the LSE’s Department of International Relations.

Ben’s main research focus is the international political economy of finance in developing countries. On-going studies include how governments use markets and development financing options, the political constraints on debt management in finance ministries, the evolution of World Bank loan conditions, and debt transparency. This work is underpinned by quantitative analysis and qualitative research in Thailand, South Africa, Botswana, and Peru. Ben has previously written on these topics as well as global governance, international organizations, and the development of bond markets.

Ben holds degrees from Cornell University (BSc), the University of Glasgow (MRes), and the University of Toronto (PhD). He has also worked extensively with the Collaborative African Budget Reform Initiative (CABRI), based in South Africa.
