Join us for the launch of Tarak Barkawi’s Soldiers of Empire, a new book from Cambridge University Press which re-imagines the study of soldiers and society. Drawing on history, sociology, and anthropology, the book critiques the “Western way of war” from a postcolonial perspective. 

Tarak Barkawi is Reader in International Relations at LSE. 

Gurminder Bhambra (@GKBhambra) is Professor of Postcolonial and Decolonial Studies at the University of Sussex.

Susan Carruthers is Professor of History at Warwick University. 

Patrick Porter (@PatPorter76) is Professor of Strategic Studies at the University of Exeter. 

Anna Stavrianakis (@StavrianakisA) is Senior Lecturer in International Relations at the University of Sussex.
