About me

Cevat Giray is a Principal Economist in the Office of the Chief Economist at European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London, Research Fellow at London School of Economics, Research Associate at IZA Institute of Labor Economics and World Economic Forum. His current work mainly focuses on applied labour economics with a strong focus on labour market inequalities, family formation, migration, and globalisation.

His research has been covered by local and international media outlets, including Bloomberg, Financial Times, Mirror, Reuters, The Daily Mail, The Telegraph, The Times, Quartz, Vox, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and World Economic Forum.

He is the recipient of the Young Researcher Award from the Association of British Turkish Academics and is selected as a Leader of Tomorrow by The St. Gallen Foundation. He also occasionally writes for GALLUP BlogLSE Business Review, University of Oxford based collaborative blog, openpop, and VOXEU,  

Prior to joining the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Cevat Giray worked as a teaching associate at LSE and University College London. He received his BA in Economics from Istanbul University and MA in Economics from State University of New York. In 2017, he completed his PhD in Economics at University of London, Royal Holloway College.
