Oscar Vergara has a Degree in Law (1994, University of Navarre, Spain), and a Ph.D. of the University of A Coruña, Spain (2003). In 2004 he joined to the University of A Coruña as a researcher of the Department of Public Law, in the area of Jurisprudence and Legal Philosophy. Currently, he is taking part in a research project that analyzes the Spanish Transition to Democracy. So he is interested in compared transitional processes and that is his main purpose for visiting the Centre for the Study of Human Rights. He has practiced as a lawyer (1996-1999) and he has been lecturer at the University of Piura (Peru) since 1999 to 2003. His most remarkable publications are two books (Law as a psycho-social phenomenon, 2004; Theories of legal system, 2008) and some papers on several topics about Law and Legal Philosophy.
