Louis Karaolis is a Research Assistant at the Laboratory for Advanced Research on the Global Economy.
He is completing a doctorate in EU law at the University of Oxford and is a convenor of the Oxford EU Law Discussion Group. He holds a Masters in EU Law from Oxford and a Bachelor of Laws (with First Class Honours) from the University of Kent.
His doctoral thesis examines the case law of the Court of Justice of the EU pertaining to the protection of human rights. In particular, the thesis examines the intersection between fundamental (market) freedoms and fundamental (human) rights in the EU legal order.
Aside from his expertise in EU human rights law, he has a keen interest in critical and sociological approaches to the study of law.
