This cross-chapter box of the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report, Working Group II on Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability, outlines approaches and challenges of assessing progress in climate change adaptation globally. It reviews the pros and cons of existing approaches and concludes that a combination of approaches provides the most robust way of understanding the global state of climate adaptation. The cross-chapter builds on earlier findings that information from national and local adaptation actions needs to be combined to obtain a holistic view of adaptation progress.
