Commenting about the sale of the Green Investment Bank Bob Ward, policy and communications director at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at the London School of Economics and Political Science, said:

“I am glad to see that the Universities Superannuation Scheme is a member of the consortium, led by Macquarie, that has acquired the Green Investment Bank. There have been many worrying rumours about Macquarie’s plans for the bank, including suggestions that it would sell-off its assets and diminish its balance sheet. Last month, I wrote, as a member of the Scheme, to its chief executive to seek assurances that it would not be party to a plan that would diminish the vital role of the Green Investment Bank in the UK’s transition to low-carbon economic growth. I hope that now that the deal has been announced that the Scheme will explain to its members what the consortium’s plans are for the future of the Bank.”
