About me

Before joining the LSE I was lecturer in political science at the Australian National University. There I taught courses in research methods, contemporary political theory, and the history of political thought. My principal research focus is investigating the constraints that social science can bring to bear on political philosophy (most recently looking for clues in modal logic).

Research interests

  • Analytic political theory
  • The methodology of political science
  • Formal positive theory
  • Philosophy of language and science
  • History of political thought

Teaching responsibilities

  • GV100: Introduction to Political Theory

Selected publications

An Interpretation of Political Argument, European Journal of Political Theory, forthcoming.

‘Power as Resources’ and ‘Social Power’, in The Encyclopaedia of Power, Sage.
