Examination information

Examinations are normally scheduled each year in the Summer Term during the months of May and June. The exam timetable will be published on the last day of Lent Term.

To ensure that you are scheduled for the correct examinations, you should check, on LSE For You, that you are enrolled on the correct courses. For advice on amending your course choices, please contact: registry@lse.ac.uk.

Your personalised examination timetable, giving details of the room and seating for all your examinations, together with your candidate number, can be accessed via LSE for You during the first week of Summer Term. If the information on your personal timetable is incorrect you must contact the Student Services Centre. Regardless of your examination schedule, all students are required to be available throughout the Summer Term in case, for example, an examination needs to be rescheduled or your script is deemed illegible by the examiner.

You must take a printed copy of your personal examination timetable and your student ID card to all your examinations. Your candidate number must be written on all assessed work and on all the examination answer books you use. This is to ensure anonymity during the marking process. It is important to note that students are expected to sit all exams as timetabled.

Individual examination adjustments

School regulations allow for individual examination adjustments (e.g. extra writing time, rest periods, the use of equipment, etc.) to be made if you have a documented medical, physical or psychological condition and/or a learning disability e.g. dyslexia. Please note that these adjustments are confidential and will not be listed on your transcript and/or degree certificate. Any student who feels they are entitled to individual exam adjustments, should find further information here

Exceptional circumstances

If, during your time at the School, you experience circumstances which you feel have a significant effect on your academic performance, you may wish to submit an exceptional circumstances form. Such circumstances include, but are not limited to, illness, injury, or bereavement. Please find further details about exceptional circumstances here

Deferral

The School requires you to sit all assessments in the academic year in which you received tuition. Under certain circumstances the School will allow students to postpone one or more assessments to the next academic year. This is known as deferral. If you are absent from an examination or fail to submit a dissertation without official approval to defer, you will receive a mark of zero (i.e a fail) for that course, which will count as an attempt. Please find further details about deferral here
