Olmo joined the Department in September 2007. He is among the founding members of the Spatial Economics Research Centre at LSE, where he currently holds a position as Research Associate. He is also Research Associate at the Centre for Economic Performance at the LSE, where he worked as a full-time research officer between September 2004 and August 2007. His research concentrates on spatial issues in the economics of education (such as school accessibility, school competition and neighbourhood effects), and on the economic and social consequences of homeownership. His areas of expertise also include: the main determinants of entrepreneurship (skills, family background and credit constraints), the capitalization of public good quality into house prices, and the long-run causes of growth. He teaches regional development and change, applied urban economics and real estate economics and finance.
