PhD candidate in Environmental Policy & Development
Matthew holds an MSc in Environmental Technology (with a specialisation in environmental economics and policy) from Imperial College London, and a BS in Biology (with a minor in chemistry) from the University of Virginia, USA.
In between his studies, Matthew spent time consulting in Washington, D.C. and London, working on projects for organisations such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, UK Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs, European Commission DG Environment, and World Bank.

Matthew's PhD research focuses on incentives used to promote forest-friendly behaviour in local communities. His field studies are based in the Andes region of South America (Peru, Ecuador and Colombia).
