The role of social housing in the London economy

London Development Workshops II hosted a seminar and debate discussing social housing's past and future roles in London, as well as lesson's from Europe for social housing in London.  The seminar provided insight from representatives of local authorities, housing associations, academics and the Greater London Authority. Speakers included the following:

  • Kath Scanlon, LSE London and SBI Copenhagen
  • Alan Benson, Greater London Authority
  • June Barnes, East Thames Housing Association
  • David Woods, Barking and Dagenham Council
  • Lord Richard Best, Chair Westminster Housing Commission

The event was divided into two halves, each followed by a debate involving both speakers and attendees. The launch of the new LSE London report Social Housing In Europe (PDF) followed the event.
