Frequently asked questions

When should I apply for the MSc REEF Programme?

Applications for 2016/2017 open in November. The first decisions will be released from late December onwards. There is intense competition for admission. Early applications have a greater chance of being successful and of meeting financial support/scholarship deadlines.

How can I apply? Can I apply online?

You will find all relevant information with regard to applications here.
Yes, you can apply online.

Where can I find out whether the course is closed (full)?

Consult the availability of programmes page.

Once the course is closed (full), is there a waiting list?

No.

What are the general requirements?

Generally, you should have good analytical, quantitative and technical skills.

A thorough grounding in economic analysis at a level equivalent to a joint degree at least is a normal requirement for entry. Generally, a BA in economics will be fine, although you would need to provide a transcript.

Do I need work experience to apply for the MSc REEF Programme?

We don't expect work experience although we do welcome it. What this means is that a good student is usually admitted on grades and references. If the application is a marginal case, then the student may benefit from having work experience. In terms of getting something out of the course, some limited work experience might help, but is not essential.

What GRE/GMAT scores are expected?

If you do not hold an honours degree from a UK university* you need to take the GRE General Test within five years of your application and include your test scores on your application form. You may also submit a GMAT score, but GRE is preferred. Please see Admissions Enquiries System under Graduate Admissions.

We do typically expect candidates to score in the top ten percentile in the overall test. However, other qualifications and relevant work experience will be taken into consideration. We recognise that if your first language is not English the test will present special difficulties and we view your score on that basis.

Students who hold an honours degree from a UK university* or students who are in their final year of studies and will graduate with an honours degree from a UK university* do not need to submit GMAT or GRE test scores.

* From students that hold an honours degree from a UK university, we generally expect at least an average to good 2:1. From students that are enrolled at a UK university and are in their last year of studies we generally expect at least an average to good predicted 2:1.

What is the intake/application-ratio of the MSc REEF?

In 2014 our intake/application ratio was 43/293.

When does the course start and end?

View term start and end dates.

Where can I find more detailed information on financial support?

Visit the LSE Financial Support Office for information (including scholarships)

Can I or should I set up a personal interview prior to applying?

We do not interview applicants prior to (nor subsequent to) their application.

Are there other web pages that possibly answer my questions?

The starting point should be the Graduate Admissions webpages.

The online enquiries system contains the Graduate Admissions Office's top ten Frequently Asked Questions. The site also allows you to search for keywords. Finally, the system allows you to send a written enquiry if the information on the site doesn't answer your question.

Address all other non-programme specific requests directly to the Graduate Admissions Office. For full address details see getting in touch with us. The Graduate Admissions Office can be contacted through the online enquiries system. If you need an immediate answer you can call the Office: +44 (0)20 7955 7160 (choose option 3 to speak to a member of staff). Finally, you can fax the Office: +44 (0)20 7955 6137.

If you have programme specific administrative questions you can contact the administrator for the MSc REEF programme: Harriett Johnson (h.johnson4@lse.ac.uk).
