How to apply for Paul Woolley Centre Scholarships

The Paul Woolley Centre for the Study of Capital Market Dysfunctionality would like to invite applications to the Paul Woolley Centre Scholarship Programme for the 2015-16 academic year.

How to apply

If you are interested in applying for The Paul Woolley Centre Scholarship Programme 2015-16, please submit the following documents:

  • A copy of your Curriculum Vitae (up to 2 pages)
  • A summary of your research interests and/or work to date explaining how your research fits within the broad research agenda of The Paul Woolley Centre (up to 2,000 words). Please note: the summary of your research interests should include a word count.

The deadline for applications is 12pm (noon) on Friday 27 February 2015. Applications must be submitted via e-mail to the Financial Markets Group, e-mail: fmg@lse.ac.uk|.

Selection process and criteria

The scholarships are awarded between March and June each year to a maximum number of three outstanding PhD students who have been admitted to the PhD programme of the Finance Department or the Economics Department of the London School of Economics. Preference will be given to students who have completed their PhD coursework stage or are about to complete it.

The scholarships are awarded by a scholarship committee consisting of Dr Paul Woolley, the Paul Woolley Centre Director Professor Dimitri Vayanos and the Financial Markets Group Director Professor Christopher Polk.

Applications will be reviewed on the basis of student excellence and past performance. Your CV should include exam grades and other achievements where relevant. Candidates will be shortlisted by the Scholarship Committee on the basis of their application and those shortlisted will be invited to an interview with the Committee. It is expected that award decisions will be made and communicated to applicants by Friday 27 March 2015.
