The Baltic International centre for Economic Policy Studies is an independent research centre founded in 2002 in Riga (Latvia). Its aim is to promote and undertake high quality policy-oriented research in economics and other social sciences and to provide informed advice for both government and business. A major goal is to offer an environment in which Western-trained PhDs can continue to pursue high quality research. BICEPS has developed strong links with top Eastern European research institutes: the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga and with the Stockholm Institute for Transition Economies (SITE), the Centre for Economic and Financial Research (CEFIR) in Moscow and with the University of Tallinn and of Tartu. BICEPS publishes Baltic Economic Trends, which reports on the latest research in the Baltic States and offers commentary on economic developments.
