Dr Daniel Paravisini secures Norges Forskingsråd research funding
We are pleased to announce that Dr Daniel Paravisini of the Financial Markets Group and the Department of Finance has been awarded significant research funding by Norges Forskingsråd, the Research Council of Norway.
Professor Sudipto Bhattacharya (1951- 2012)
It is with great sadness that we report the death of Professor Sudipto Bhattacharya. Sudipto joined the Department of Finance and the FMG in 1994 as Professor of Finance, making significant contributions to life in the Department, the FMG and the School as a whole. He will be greatly missed.
Mikhail Chernov wins Award for Best Paper on Asset Pricing 2012
Congratulations to Mikhail Chernov (Department of Finance/FMG, LSE) who has won the prestigious NASDAQ OMX Award for Best Paper on Asset Pricing 2012. He was recognised for his CDS Auctions paper at the Western Finance Association Meeting, which took place in Las Vegas in June. He shares the honour with co-authors Igor Makarov and Alexander Gorbenko of the London Business School. The prize was one of only five awards announced during the four-day annual conference, and was accompanied by a cheque for $5,000.

Georgy Chabakauri part of winning team in 4nations cup
Congratulations to Georgy Chabakauri (Department of Finance/FMG, LSE) who was part of a winning UK team in the 4nations cup. Georgy, along with team mate Vikrant Vig (LBS), saw of competition from France, Germany and the Netherlands in a competition that sees the most promising young scholars in financial economics go head-to-head in a day of mini seminars.
Director of FMG named as Associate Editor of Journal of Finance
Professor Christopher Polk, Director of the FMG, and Dr Daniel Paravisini (Department of Finance/FMG, LSE) have been named as Associate Editors of The Journal of Finance; renowned internationally as one of the most prestigious finance research journals. They join Professor Mike Chernov (Department of Finance, LSE), already an Associate Editor, and Professor Dimitri Vayanos (Director of the Paul Woolley Centre) who is on the Board of Directors of the American Finance Association which publishes the Journal of Finance.
