Previous Degree
Two-year Degree in Mathematics at Paris Dauphine University then Bachelor in a selective programme to become a Chartered Accountant.
Why did you choose the Programme?
After my studies in Paris, I did a summer internship in an investment bank and continued with a long internship in markets. This professional experience in the financial industry made me realise I wanted to start a career in markets. However, I felt I was lacking some theoretical background in finance, as my knowledge was only slowly built up through daily observations made at work or from tips from colleagues. Therefore the MSc Finance programme at LSE was ideal for me.
What aspect did you gain from / enjoy most?
As a former French student, I was impressed by the diversity of the backgrounds and nationalities of my classmates. This is a well-known characteristic of the LSE, yet I would like to emphasize how much it is true. It is also important for someone who seeks to enter a career in finance.
Regarding the courses, I had expected that some elements would be theoretical but not necessarily used in the professional world. However, I found that many of the courses are extremely practical as well as theoretical; they are a good preparation for what students should expect when they start working. As I had only worked previously in markets, the programme allowed me to extend my knowledge into other fields of finance.
What are you doing next?
I am doing a long internship in credit structuring at Société Générale, London.
