Mechanical Engineering

Why did you choose the Programme?

I studied Mechanical Engineering in Lebanon, and throughout my undergraduate years I developed an increasing interest in business and finance. However, I lacked the theoretical background and needed to find a stepping stone after graduation that would allow me to find a job in the industry. I looked into many Masters programmes, but the MSc Finance at LSE was the ideal one for me: designed for people who come from another background, and aimed at preparing them for a career in finance. It was my top choice as I wanted London for being Europe's financial centre, and LSE for its reputation and its diversity. It was indeed the perfect choice, as it gave me exactly what I was looking for.

What aspect did you gain from / enjoy most?

I most enjoyed meeting smart interesting people from all around the world, who share the same interests. I gained a lot from the networking events and made a lot of useful contacts. I was also very impressed by the reputation the programme has in the industry; it allowed me to find an internship easily and early on. I learned a lot in one year, from the basics of finance to specific topics in elective courses. It was a very challenging experience but I think it really prepared me for the professional world.

What are you doing next?

I am starting an internship in Sales and Trading, at UBS London.
