Rune Bundegaard-Jorgensen

Previous Degree

BSc in Economics from University of Copenhagen and half a MSc in Economics also from University of Copenhagen

Why did you choose the Programme?

I felt I had a very thorough theoretical background in economics but lacked something more applicable in the financial markets. I looked for a programme that both allowed me to learn something directly applicable in the financial sector but at the same time maintained mathematical rigor. I feel Finance & Economics does exactly this. After this Degree I feel ready to take on more or less any job the City offers. This coupled with the fact that LSE and especially the Finance & Economics programme has an exceptional reputation around the world in the financial sector left me without a doubt.

What aspect did you gain from / enjoy most?

What I learned most from was the Financial Economics course (FM436). It was very tough and in the beginning of the second term I had a hard time making sense of it all, but slowly the pieces began falling into place, and in the end I really enjoyed it and I learned a tremendous amount. I can't remember a single course that has taught me so much in such short time.

The environment at LSE is probably the best asset. Everybody is here to learn and your classmates come from all over the world and are very friendly and open. The teachers also have have a real passion about their particular subject which makes it much more enjoyable to follow. I leave LSE with a network spanning the entire globe which I am sure will be very useful in the future.

Rune joined an IBD Internship scheme at Morgan & Stanley after graduating, after which he planned to return to Copenhagen to complete his MSc in Economics, before taking up a position with McKinsey & Co.
