MBA Financial Engineering - Athens University of Economics & Business

Why did you choose the Programme?

I chose the Programme because of its reputation as one of the best quantitative Finance Masters in UK and also because of LSE's global reputation. By becoming a graduate of the programme I hoped that it would become easier to find a job in Investment Banking in London.

What aspect did you gain from/enjoy the most?

The fact that it is a real challenge. The Financial Economics module, especially the second half, is very interesting.

I had to go through the Summer School last year in order to join the programme, and ex-post I found it really helpful.

The difference with LSE compared to other renowned universities is that it has an academic flavour in everything that has to do with it, the buildings, the people, the whole atmosphere reminds you that many Nobel Prize winners have walked in the same corridors that you walk now...this is a source of inspiration and further motivation for you to be devoted to your studies, at least it worked that way with me.

The MSc Finance and Economics is a very challenging degree. It requires systematic studying and continuous self-motivation. Of course it is an entry ticket to the world of Investment Banking, but I think the main benefit of it is the self-development that you gain, and the fact that you learn how to attack difficult problems from different angles.

Ioannis graduated with a Distinction and was awarded the Emeritus Professors award for the overall best performance in the MSc. He entered the Fixed Income Graduate Programme at BNP Paribas in London, as part of the Interest Rate Strategy (IRS) team.
