Previous Degree
BCom (Hons) Econometrics and BSc Statistics, University of Sydney
Why did you choose the Programme?
I wished to pursue a career as an Economist and felt I needed training at the graduate level to deepen my understanding of economic theory.
Additionally, I have a strong interest in finance, and so the MSc Finance and Economics programme was a natural choice for me. LSE’s strong brand was also a big factor in choosing the programme.
What aspect did you gain from / enjoy most?
The programme pushed me to my limits academically. I particularly enjoyed some of the econometrics subjects that I took, such as Forecasting Financial Time Series. I already had a lot of econometrics training, but I was able to add to this substantially.
More generally, I enjoyed studying in London and attending many of the interesting LSE public lectures on offer.
However, my favourite aspect of the programme was making a lot of great friends from all over the world. I thoroughly enjoyed sharing the experience with such a talented and friendly cohort. This programme is very challenging – and the core subject, Financial Economics, can take credit for this – but everything seemed more manageable with a network of helpful friends in the same situation.
What are you doing next?
I am currently working as an Economist at the Bank of England.
