Previous Degree

Bachelor of Electrical Engineering.

Why did you choose the Programme?

Having worked for close to 5 years as a techie for the Risk and Compliance division of a Financial services MNC, I wanted to pursue a career in mainstream finance. Since I didn't have any theoretical background in finance, I wanted to pursue a degree which would focus on the core topics of finance from the very beginning and also provide flexibility in terms of the electives I wanted to study. LSE's Management and Regulation of Risk programme was more than I had asked for, as it was a great blend of quantitative and qualitative courses across multiple academic disciplines apart from practitioner seminars.

What aspect did you gain from / enjoy the most?

The study material was excellent and so was the compilation of journal articles that we were made to go through. As the sub-prime and credit crisis was unfolding around us, I was very impressed at how the teachers managed to keep the syllabus up-to-date and regularly tried to establish a link with what was happening. This, combined with the practitioner seminars and access to public lectures by some of the leading thinkers in the world of finance, gave me a perspective that will stay with me forever. Finally, the dissertation part of the course forced me to assimilate the plethora of different information and channel it in a meaningful way.

What are you doing next?

I recently interned as a Credit Analyst with one of the largest Asset Management firms in India and am now looking forward to working on Enterprise Risk Management projects.
