Prospective Students

Students coming to the European Institute benefit not merely from the expertise of academics in the Institute but from those elsewhere at LSE with over 100 academics working on some aspect of Europe. Teaching is also provided by a number of distinguished visitors and policy-makers.

The European Institute has seven Masters programmes - one of the broadest offerings on Europe in the world. Within each programme, students study a combination of core and optional courses, with around 75 taught courses to choose from.

The European Institute accepts applications to our doctoral programme in the areas of our four research themes: Governance and Democracy in the European Union, European Society, Political Economy in Europe and Europe beyond the EU.

Formal teaching is only part of the picture. The European Institute has an unrivalled programme of Public Lectures and Events. Every year, there are also numerous trips, conferences and events organized by the active student societies: LSE Students' Union Societies

Former graduates of the European Institute have pursued successful careers in politics, journalism, diplomacy, business, the EU Institutions and in international financial institutions. View a selection of European Institute Graduate profiles. You can also find out what the current European Institute students get up to via the European Institute Facebook page, as well as up to date details of our events
