The European Institute, as one of a small number of centres in Europe, exists to be a focus at LSE for the study of contemporary Europe and the European Union. We are a multidisciplinary centre for teaching and research excellence, with interests covering politics, economics, international relations, philosophy and law.
We know that high quality research and teaching feed off each other in an effective academic community. We concentrate on postgraduate teaching with particular strengths in European political economy and public policy, and are proud of our high-impact research.
Research is conducted both by individual staff members and via particular research groups, such as the Hellenic Observatory, LSEE Research on South East Europe and the Forum for European Philosophy.
The benefits of studying at an internationally renowned academic institution include access to a broad range of thought-provoking public seminars and lectures and our excellent facilities: the Library is the biggest social science library in the world, for example.
Your time at the School will be rewarding and exciting. If you ave any questions relating to your MPhil/PhD studies, please contact the MPhil/PhD Programme Manager at Euroinst.Phd.Admin@lse.ac.uk.
